An Argentinian female judge was caught on CCTV, allegedly having an affair with a murderer who was sentenced to life in prison. In particular, the judge was the judge who decided whether the murderer was sentenced to life in prison, and the controversy is growing as it is known that he is the only one who voted against life imprisonment.

According to the British Daily Mail and Metro on the 4th (local time), on the 29th of last month, a CCTV footage of Judge Mariel Suarez and murderer Christian Bustos was captured on the CCTV of a prison near Chubut Province, Argentina.

Bustos was previously arrested on charges of firing a police officer who was trying to arrest him during an escape in 2009. On the 22nd of last month, a trial was held to decide whether Bustos was sentenced to life in prison, and Suarez also attended the trial as a judge.

At the time, Suarez was the only judge among the judges to vote against life imprisonment, even though he knew Bustos was a very dangerous prisoner. Judge Suarez’s vote was not overturned, and Bustos was sentenced to life in prison.

A week after sentencing, Suarez met Bustos again in prison. The two met face to face for about 3 seconds during the meeting, and this image was captured on CCTV. Afterwards, their faces moved away, and the story continued as Bustos changed his posture and sat down.

Argentinian media saw this and claimed, “The two kissed.”

Judge Suarez denied that “I did not kiss Bustos during my visit to the prison,” and said, “I do not share feelings with Bustos. I was just writing a book about him, so I went to him and asked him.” He continued, “I believe in what Bustos said at the trial and receive a sentence that is lighter than life imprisonment.

“I voted for sentencing,” he added.

“Judge Suarez acted inappropriately,” the Chubut High Court said in a statement. “We will also look into the duration and content of the secret meeting between the two people to investigate whether there has been any violation of the Public Official Ethics Act and internal judicial authority regulations,” he said.
