(Beijing = Yonhap News) Correspondent Han Jong-koo = Chinese state media countered that the US media report that China was pushing to build a naval base in Equatorial Guinea, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in the eastern United States, was not true.

The state-run Global Times reported on the 7th, citing its own military experts, saying, “Reporting on plans to build a military base is an American move to exaggerate the Chinese threat theory.”

The newspaper mentioned the case of China’s first overseas military base in Djibouti, near the Gulf of Aden, and insisted that China disclose information in advance if it builds a base abroad.

A military expert, who requested anonymity, told The Global Times, “The United States is besieging China in political, economic and military fields. criticized

“Even if China promotes overseas bases, it cannot be compared to the United States, which has nearly 800 military bases in 80 countries,” he said.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 5th (local time) that, citing a US classified intelligence report, “China is trying to build a military base in Equatorial Guinea, west of Africa, in order to expand the radius of naval activity.”
