Kim Moon-sook, chairman of the Busan Council for the Countermeasures against Mental Issues, who worked hard for the human rights of comfort women victims all his life, passed away on the 29th at the age of 95.

Chairman Kim established the Busan Council for Countermeasures against Mental Issues in 1991 and devoted himself to publicizing the reality of the comfort women issue.

The deceased, who is also a real person in the main character of the movie ‘Her Story’, led the trial by leading the tribunal.

The official trial was the first trial in December 1992, when ten grandmothers, including seven victims of labor mental illness and three victims of Japanese military comfort women, demanded an apology and compensation from the Japanese government. It was called the Government Trial in the sense that it was a trial held between Shimonoseki (下關) and Busan (釜山) in Japan.

The bereaved family plans to set up an incense burner at the National Ethnic and Women’s History Center next week in consultation with the city of Busan.

The mortuary was prepared at Gangnam St. Mary’s Hospital in Seoul, and the funeral was held at 10 am on the 31st.
