An accident occurred when a male passenger was trapped in the washroom on a flight by a low-cost Indian airline, SpyJet.

According to the New York Post on the 18th (local time), the man had to be locked in the bathroom for about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Mumbai to Bengaluru.

The male passenger said he used the bathroom immediately after take off, but was locked in the bathroom due to a broken lock.

After that, the man stayed in the bathroom for about 1 hour and 45 minutes from the time the plane took off at about 2 am until it landed. Meanwhile, the flight attendant and other passengers reportedly tried to open the bathroom door, but ultimately failed.

When the man trapped in the bathroom panicked, the flight attendants even passed a note through the bathroom door to reassure the trapped man.

The note said, ‘I tried my best to open the door, but I couldn’t. Don’t panic. We will be landing in a few minutes, so close the toilet lid and sit on it to keep yourself safe. ‘When the door opens, an engineer will come’.

The man managed to escape only after reaching Bengaluru. Immediately after landing, two engineers broke down the bathroom door and took the man.

Saved.

At the time, the man is said to be suffering from mental shock, including claustrophobia. In response, Spyjet apologized and said it had refunded the passenger’s full airfare. Additionally, in an official statement, they said, “We apologize and regret the inconvenience caused to the passenger,” and “The passenger received a full refund of the flight ticket.”
