After rejecting a job report once, “I agree with you in the big picture of the promise”

“Active discussion on the abolition and revision of the prohibition of disclosure of criminal cases”

“I do not clearly agree with the abolition of the investigative authority”

[천지일보=이대경 기자] At the meeting held again after the Ministry of Justice rejected the task report of the Presidential Takeover Committee (Transfer Committee) once, I agree with the point that the Justice Minister’s exercise of command over the investigation caused controversy over the independence and neutrality of the prosecution. ” he said. This seems to be conscious of the criticism that the report of the transition committee has been degenerated into a conflict between the old and the new power.

The Ministry of Justice announced in a report on the work of the Political Affairs and Judicial Administration Division of the Presidential Transition Committee on the 29th that it would actively cooperate with the transition committee. In addition, the Ministry of Justice expressed sympathy for President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol’s promises to justice, and said that it would cooperate with the revision of laws in line with the new government’s basic principles.

In the past, the transition committee has pointed out that the justice minister’s authority to direct investigations was used as a mechanism to control the prosecution, resulting in undermining the independence and neutrality of the prosecution.

In relation to this, the Ministry of Justice said on the same day, “We sympathize with the controversy that has arisen to some extent that the independence and neutrality of the prosecution has been undermined by the Minister of Justice’s exercise of command over the investigation.”

However, it is known that the Minister of Justice has not expressed a clear position on the abolition of the investigation command. What the Ministry of Justice said in its work report was that, “If there is a new government, we will actively participate in the revision of related laws.”

It is reported that the Ministry of Justice did not clearly agree with one of President-elect Yoon’s promises, giving the prosecutors the right to set up an independent budget. However, the Ministry of Justice said that the Ministry of Justice was in a position to sympathize with the extension of the prosecution’s direct investigation, unlike Justice Minister Park Beom-gye. promised to the board.

Earlier, the transition committee canceled the work report schedule of the Ministry of Justice on the same day on the 24th, accusing Minister Park of publicly opposing President-elect Yoon’s judicial promises, such as “I can’t contain my anger” and “Irresponsible treatment”.

Minister Park did not attend the work report that day. The transition committee said, “The Justice Ministry staff looked very confused as Minister Park made several statements about Yoon’s promises, but today’s overall atmosphere was fully understood and sympathized with.”
