Monkeypox in Jordan: Zero Positive Cases Among Contacts, a Promising Sign in the Fight Against the Virus
Monkeypox Case Confirmed in Amman, Jordan
According to Adel Al-Bilbisi, head of the National Center for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control, a case of monkeypox was diagnosed in Amman, Jordan on Tuesday.
The infected individual is currently in good condition and is being isolated in a hospital in Amman. Authorities have successfully traced and tested those who came into contact with the patient, with no additional positive cases reported.
Al-Bilbisi emphasized that the situation is under control and there is no cause for concern. He noted that while the global community is worried about the potential for monkeypox to become an epidemic similar to COVID-19, this is unlikely to occur.
Monkeypox is primarily spread through direct contact, rather than through inhalation like COVID-19. This key difference reduces the risk of widespread transmission.
The National Center for Epidemiology is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary precautions to prevent further cases.
