[17日 ロイター] – The US Department of Defense is considering funding US businessman Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service for the US space company SpaceX. Politico, a website specializing in US politics, reported on the 17th, citing two officials.

Starlink helped restore communications in Ukraine, damaged by the Russian military attack. Politico reports that the funding will likely come from the Pentagon’s Security Assistance to Ukraine Initiative.

In response to the report, a spokesman for the Pentagon said that security assistance was not discussed speculatively before it was published.

Separately, the Financial Times reported that the European Union (EU) was considering funding Starlink, citing several sources.

Musk said Thursday that Starlink could not be put away forever. However, on the 15th, he withdrew this and made it clear that he would continue to provide free supplies to Ukraine.
