[Mayfield (Kentucky, USA) 11th Reuters]–A tornado occurred in the Midwest and South of the United States from the night of the 10th to the 11th, and at least 100 people may have died in Kentucky. President Biden approved a state of emergency on the 11th, stating that it could be one of the largest tornadoes in US history.

In Mayfield, Kentucky, candle factories, fire and police stations were destroyed, and in Missouri, a nursing home collapsed. At least six people have died in an Amazon warehouse in Illinois.

Kentucky Governor Visia said in a press conference, “I can’t put it into words because of the different tragedy I’ve seen. There will be more than 100 casualties in the state.”

President Biden has told reporters to ask the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate how climate change played a role in the outbreak of tornadoes. He questioned the tornado warning system and said, “What kind of warning was there? Was the warning powerful enough to be heard?”

In Edwardsville, Illinois, the Amazon.com warehouse was blown off by the wind and the walls longer than the soccer field were rubble.

A spokeswoman for Toyota Motor’s North American division said the Kentucky plant was undamaged, but employees are being checked.

At least three people have died in Tennessee. In Missouri, two people, including a young child, died at home.

In the small town of Monette, Arkansas, one was killed and five were seriously injured in a 90-bed elderly housing with care.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, there were 36 reports of tornadoes reaching the surface in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
