US Adds 42 Chinese Companies to Export Control List for Supplying Integrated Circuits to Russia’s Military

The US Department of Commerce took action on the 6th by adding 42 Chinese companies to its export control list. These companies were found to be supplying US-made integrated circuits (ICs) to Russia, thereby supporting Russia’s military and defense industry. Additionally, seven companies from Finland, Germany, India, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United Kingdom were also included on the list.

This move comes in response to concerns that some of the ICs provided to Russia were being used in precision guidance systems for missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) targeting civilians in Ukraine.

China’s Ministry of Commerce responded to the US measures by criticizing them as “economic coercion and unilateral bullying.” They called on the United States to rectify its mistakes and cease its unjust oppression of Chinese companies.
