[ワシントン/ドバイ/ロンドン 15日 ロイター] – On the 15th, an anti-ship ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s pro-Iranian Houthi group directly hit a US-owned and operated Marshall Islands-registered container ship. The US military posted it on the short messaging site X (formerly Twitter). There were no injuries or major damage, and the container ship continued to operate.

The container ship Gibraltar Eagle was hit by a missile. According to Eagle Bulk Shipping, the vessel’s operator, the vessel was hit by an “unknown projectile” while sailing 100 miles off the coast of the Gulf of Aden, causing limited damage to its cargo hold. The vessel is said to be stable and currently out of the area. The ship is loaded with steel materials.

Earlier on the same day, British maritime security company Ambry announced that a missile had attacked a US-owned bulk carrier registered in the Marshall Islands while operating off the coast of Aden, Yemen. The Houthis fired three missiles, two of which missed the sea, but one hit a bulk carrier. A fire broke out, but no one was injured.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the vessel was hit by a missile 95 nautical miles south-east of Aden, but did not give details of the vessel.

According to Ambry, the ship has no connection to Israel. The attack is believed to have been aimed at the United States in response to an attack on a Houthi military base.
