IT media outlet MacRumors reported on the 8th that Apple is planning to introduce new AI technology to Siri and upgrade the microphone performance to further enhance its functionality.
Siri, a widely used AI assistant service on Apple devices such as the iPhone and iPad, responds to voice commands and executes necessary functions when prompted by the user.
The improvement in the microphone performance for the iPhone 16 is expected to enable Siri to handle more complex voice commands.
Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo emphasized via social media that strengthening the functions and specifications of Siri is essential for Apple to advance AI-generated content.
Given Apple’s focus on developing self-generated AI and large language models (LLM), the improvement in Siri’s voice input processing ability is likely to have a significant impact on the operation of Apple’s AI phones.
It is anticipated that Apple will significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the iPhone 16’s microphone and enhance its durability in order to support these advancements in Siri functionality.
Additionally, a new Siri function powered by LLM is expected to be added in iOS 18, the operating system that will be released with the iPhone 16 next year. Apple has reportedly restructured its Siri development team to integrate the productive development of AI and LLM.
Furthermore, the potential overhaul of the iPhone 16’s hardware to strengthen AI functions suggests that AI functionality may only be featured on models released after the iPhone 16.
