[Reuters]–Australia’s Prime Minister Albany Gee unilaterally abandoned the next submarine joint development contract with France last year at a press conference in Sydney on the 11th. The group has announced that it has settled by paying a settlement of € 555 million ($ 583.58 million).

Albany Gee emphasized that the reconciliation would allow Australia to establish a future-oriented relationship with France. “Given the magnitude of the challenges we face in the region and around the world, it is imperative that Australia and France reunite and uphold the principles and interests we share,” the statement said.

“We have great respect for France’s role and active involvement in the Indo-Pacific,” said Albany Gee, who will positively consider visiting Paris in response to an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. Added.

Last year, then Prime Minister Morrison stopped ordering a new type of submarine with normal power from France, and changed its policy to develop a nuclear submarine under the new security framework “AUKUS” with the United States and the United Kingdom. The French government has been furious and diplomatic relations between the two countries have deteriorated more than ever.
