BNP’s Vision for a Unified Nation: A National System of Government Takes Center Stage
BNP’s Vision for a National Government and Bicameral Parliament
BNP’s interim chairman, Tariq Rahman, emphasized the party’s commitment to establishing a national government and a bicameral parliament system in Bangladesh.
Addressing Trinamool leaders and Dhaka Division activists, Rahman highlighted the importance of national unity in achieving the country’s goals. He noted that the country’s independence was won through the collective efforts of the people, but the power of national unity was not utilized effectively after independence.
Rahman criticized the current system, where one party dominates the political landscape, and the views of others are marginalized. He argued that this has resulted in the country being deprived of the services of a large section of the population.
A National Government for the Future
Rahman emphasized that the BNP wants to see the country run through a national government, with the support of the people. He stated that all those who participated in the struggle to restore democracy and voting rights will be involved in the management of the country, ensuring that their contributions are not wasted.
A Bicameral Parliament System
Rahman also proposed the introduction of a bicameral parliament system, with an upper house attached to the constitution. This, he argued, would provide opportunities for knowledgeable individuals from various fields, such as education, arts, journalism, and research, to contribute to the country’s development.
Rahman emphasized that the BNP’s plans for the future are based on the party’s goodwill and commitment to the people. He acknowledged that the support of the people is crucial in implementing these plans.
A Warning Against Oppressors
Rahman warned against the inclusion of oppressors in the national government, citing the country’s history of violence, corruption, and human rights abuses. He urged the people to be vigilant and prevent the actions of a handful of individuals from harming the country.
A Call to Action
Rahman congratulated BNP leaders and workers for their unwavering faith in the party and their participation in the movement over the past 17 years. He advised them to adapt to the changing expectations and language of the people, using their political wisdom and strategy to counter the new challenges.
Rahman expressed his gratitude to Trinamool for their support and defense of the BNP during times of crisis. He emphasized the importance of sustaining the party’s ideals and the faith of its dedicated workers.
