LG Electronics’ ‘Waterless Washing Machine’ is finally on sale in Korea | HYPEBEAST.KR

The Sandbox Support Center of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy recently held the ‘Industrial Convergence Regulation Sandbox Deliberation Committee’ and approved a total of eight projects that had been blocked by regulations. On this day, the ‘commercial carbon dioxide washing machine’ applied by LG Electronics passed the deliberation.

‘Commercial carbon dioxide washing machine’ cools and compresses carbon dioxide inside the washing machine, converts it to liquid state, and uses it as a laundry solvent. Unlike conventional commercial washing machines that use water and oil, it is an eco-friendly method that does not emit wastewater or exhaust gas. Although this product has already been commercialized overseas, the process of compressing and liquefying carbon dioxide used in washing machines falls under the high-pressure gas manufacturing act in the domestic high-pressure gas law, so there were many restrictions on commercialization.

Considering that the carbon dioxide washing machine is an eco-friendly washing method that reduces wastewater and exhaust gas because it does not use water or oil, and it is a product that has already been commercialized abroad, it has approved a demonstration exception on the premise that safety measures are complied with. After verifying the safety of the washing machine by experimenting with it in its own laboratory, LG Electronics plans to install the product in some dry cleaners through temporary permission conversion in the future.
