Case Filed Against Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Tofazzal Hossain Murder
A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the murder of 22-year-old mason Tofazzal Hossain in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The case, which was filed on Sunday afternoon, names 64 individuals, including former government officials and local Awami League members, and accuses 200 other unknown people of involvement in the crime.
Hriday Mahmud Jannat, a resident of Chapbarari area in Bhaluka Upazila, submitted the application as the complainant in Senior Judicial Magistrate District No. 8 Amli Court. Judge Samarnika Pal took cognizance of the case and directed the officer-in-charge of Bhaluka police station to inform the court by September 19 whether any other case had been filed in this incident.
Former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former MP MA Waheed from Bhaluka Constituency, and former MP Kazim Uddin Ahmed Dhanu are among the 64 individuals named in the case. The list of accused also includes local Awami League members, such as Pistol Mamun and Jangailya Monir.
According to Advocate Azizul Haque Khan, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, Tofazzal Hossain was killed in the Ideal Crossing area of Baluka on August 4 during the students’ movement. The accused are alleged to have been directly and indirectly involved in the murder. The lawyer expressed hope that justice would be served in this case.
The case has sparked widespread attention and concern, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tofazzal Hossain’s death.
