Microsoft Office Gets a Fresh Look with New Aptos Font and Color Palette Upgrade

Microsoft Office is preparing for a significant update, with the 15-year-old Calibri font being replaced by the new Aptos font. This change not only gives users a fresh visual experience but also signifies a transformation in brand development. In addition to the new font, the updated Office theme will introduce new color palettes and styles, offering users more creative options.

The new default Office themes are currently being tested and will be available to all Microsoft 365 users next month. Along with the Aptos font replacing Calibri in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, users will also have access to new elements such as color palettes, preloaded styles, and line weights. Notable changes in the color palette include replacing yellow with a dark green and lighter blue with a dark cyan. These changes will enhance the contrast of shapes and lines in Office files, making them easier to read and giving documents a more professional appearance.

In other news, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has signed a £774 million contract with Microsoft to provide Office365 and other products to its 1.5 million workers. Microsoft is also planning to integrate AI programs, such as OpenAI, into Word and other applications to assist with email responses. Additionally, Microsoft Office is testing a new feature that allows users to upload photos directly from their mobile phones to Word and PowerPoint.
