Pamela Hayden Retires: The Voice Behind Milhouse and Bart’s Friend Bids Farewell to The Simpsons

Pamela Hayden, the voice actor known for Milhouse Van Houten, is leaving The Simpsons after 35 years. Hayden, 70, also voiced several other characters, including Jimbo Jones and Rod Flanders. She will make her final appearance on November 24 in a Treehouse of Horror episode.

In her statement, Hayden expressed her gratitude, saying, “It’s been an honour and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show.”

Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, praised her contributions. He said, “Pamela gave us tons of laughs with Milhouse, the hapless kid with the biggest nose in Springfield. She made Milhouse hilarious and real, and we will miss her.”

Casting for Hayden’s characters is on the way. Milhouse first appeared in a Butterfinger commercial in 1989, and his name reflects that of former U.S. President Richard Nixon.

Milhouse is a nearsighted character, often teased and bullied. In one episode, Bart involves Milhouse in a prank that gets him on the America’s Most Wanted list. In another, he trades Bart’s soul at a comic book store.
