The Tass news agency said the number of Russians who traveled to North Korea via Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East this year exceeded 160.

TASS news agency said, “More than 160 people have already visited the neighboring country (North Korea) which operates international flights from Vladivostok alone, and more than 100 more will visit North Korea during holidays the month of May.”

Russia resumed group tours to North Korea in February, which had been suspended due to COVID-19 in January 2020. To this end, the North Korean authorities and the delegation of the Maritime Province signed an agreement regarding North Korean tourism in December the last year.

Next month, there will be the Labor Day (May 1) and Victory Day (May 9) holidays, so demand for North Korean tourism is expected to increase.

In fact, Russian travel agencies that have been granted permission to travel to North Korea prepare North Korean travel programs and accept bookings during these holidays.

The travel agency ‘Vostok Intour’ offers a 5 day, 4 night stay between May 6 and 10 on its website.

North Korea tour packages are sold for $750 (about 1.03 million won), and the Maritime Province is promoted by claiming that access to North Korea is only possible through Vladivostok International Airport.

The Maritime Province Tourism Office said that 40 to 50% of travelers to North Korea are also interested in exploring the Maritime Province and are developing various programs.
