Understanding and Preventing Diabetic Neuropathy: A Vital Complication of Diabetes

If you have a wound that doesn’t heal well, or if your hands and feet feel numb and you often feel numb, you should suspect diabetic neuropathy. About half of people with the disease don’t recognize the symptoms, but if left untreated, osteomyelitis can develop and cause the feet to rot.

In everyday life, it is best to consume adequate amounts of carbohydrates to prevent high blood sugar levels and practice a vegetable-focused diet to improve inflammation. Even if you follow the same diet, it’s best to eat vegetables first and rice last. You should carefully check your hands and feet for injuries and take care not to hurt yourself. It is also helpful to always keep your hands and feet clean and dry.

Prevention is the most important thing in diabetes, but even if you already have diabetes or suffer from neuropathy, you can overcome it with active treatment, blood sugar control and lifestyle improvements.
