European Markets Surge, Piazza Affari Jumps 1.92%
European Markets Surge, Milan’s FTSE MIB Leads the Way
European stock markets rallied today, buoyed by optimism surrounding potential progress in U.S.-China trade discussions. Milan’s FTSE MIB index spearheaded the gains, closing up 1.92% at 38,327 points.
European Bourses See Broad Gains
Frankfurt’s market led the major European exchanges, posting a 2.62% gain. Paris advanced 2.33%, while Amsterdam rose 2.25%. madrid’s market was up 1.20% and London’s FTSE 100 closed 1.17% higher.
Italian Bonds stable
The spread between Italian BTPs and German Bunds remained relatively stable, closing at 111 basis points, a slight increase from the opening of 110 basis points.The yield on the Italian benchmark bond was 3.63%.
Euro gains Ground Against Dollar
The euro edged higher against the U.S. dollar, appreciating by 0.40%.
Commodities Mixed
in commodities trading, natural gas prices on the Amsterdam market increased by 2.8% to 33 euros per megawatt-hour. Oil prices,however,declined 1.87%, falling below $59 a barrel to $58.13.Gold saw gains,rising approximately 1% to $3,260 an ounce.
Prysmian Leads Gains in Milan
Among individual stocks on the Piazza Affari, Prysmian led the advance, surging 6.30% to 50.9 euros. Other strong performers included Interpump, up 5.19%,Leonardo,which rose 5.13%, and STMicroelectronics, gaining 4.21%.
Banking Sector Shows strength
The banking sector also saw positive movement, wiht Unicredit leading the way with a 3.24% increase. Monte dei Paschi di Siena rose 2.20%, followed by Banca Generali, up 2.11%, and Mediobanca, which gained 1.25%.
Some Stocks Decline
Not all stocks participated in the rally. Diasorin closed down 1.49%, while Terna recorded a decline of 1.28%. Italgas fell 1.1% and Snam decreased by 0.75%.
Mid-Cap Securities Perform Well
Among mid-capitalization securities, WiITs increased 7.14%, Danieli rose 6.60%, Carel Industries gained 5.66%, and TXT E-Solutions was up 5.24%. On the downside, Garofalo Health Care fell 2.04%, followed by Alerion Clean Power, down 0.86%, and Newlat Food, which decreased by 0.82%.
Football Stocks See Gains
In the football sector, Juventus shares rose 0.78%, while Lazio recorded a significant increase of 4.50%.
