Riyadh – Mubasher: MEED magazine said that the Saudi Ministry of Sports has issued a tender for the expansion and development of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.

The magazine explained on Thursday that the contract includes the construction of facilities related to the stadium. With the aim of increasing the stadium’s capacity to approximately 30,000 seats, to be ready to host the Asian Cup in 2027.

She added that the tender was launched on April 3, noting that the last date for submitting bids is May 10.

MEED indicated that this project is part of the Kingdom’s plans to build sports stadiums as part of a capital projects program worth 10.1 billion riyals.

The Saudi Ministry of Sports recently announced its readiness to invite tenders for contracts to build sports stadiums within the framework of the capital projects programme.

In July last year, the ministry called on contracting companies to submit pre-qualification documents for major construction contracts.

Construction on the plans is expected to begin in July 2024 and be completed by December 2025, and a total of 18 facilities will be ready in time for the 2026 AFC Women’s Championship.
