Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan: A Brave Young Army Officer’s Ultimate Sacrifice
Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan, a young and courageous army officer, lost his life in a joint operation against bandits in the Maijpara East area of Dulahazara Union Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The Chief of Army Staff, General Waqar-uz-Zaman, expressed deep sorrow over his death.
General Waqar-uz-Zaman stated that the Bangladesh Army will remember Lieutenant Nirjan’s sacrifice with profound respect and pride. The army chief visited the remote mountain army camp in Chittagong district and Chittagong district on Tuesday, September 24, to pay his respects to the fallen officer.
During his visit, General Waqar-uz-Zaman addressed the army personnel of all ranks working in Chittagong Cantonment. He emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, ensuring public safety, and providing assistance to the socio-economic development of the people. The army chief also instructed the personnel to always be ready to protect the country’s sovereignty.
The Bangladesh Army is a symbol of the country’s trust, and General Waqar-uz-Zaman advised the personnel to be aware of rumors on social media and to perform their duties with honesty, truth, and justice. He also highlighted the army’s impartial and professional approach to improving the law and order situation in the country.
Later, the army chief visited the Naniarchar zone headquarters in Rangamati region of Chittagong Hill Tracts. He inspected the progress of the construction of a multi-storey building of the Army Medical College and the planting of trees. General Waqar-uz-Zaman delivered the ‘Officer’s Address’ to army officers of all ranks.
The army chief’s visit boosted the morale of army personnel and other security forces deployed in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. He also interacted with civil officers of the local administration and local dignitaries during his visit.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander Chittagong District, Chief Adviser General Army Headquarters, Senior Army Officers at Army Headquarters and Chittagong District, including ad hoc CSC, Junior Commissioned Officers, and other rank soldiers were present during the visit.
